BMW Football Stadium

Jakarta, Indonesia
2009

The design of the main soccer stadium at BMW area is developed by a series of flow simulation. The flows of people is used as the force distorting the ground surface. The two main force lines are swirled in an intertwined curl. This curl-representing the most densed area-forms the main stadium.

This strategy creates a landform stadium that represents the dynamic of this public space. The design of the stadium and the site are not developed as an independent figure and ground. Instead it is a blurred zone, where figure and ground are blended in a continuous differentiated space. The public audience are not only accomodated in the stadium but also at the plaza. It enhance the public value of this facility.
